When Preparing for a Trip, How About This Checklist? Print E-mail

1) In The Beginning: Make sure you have all necessary documentation needed for the trip including passports, itinerary, confirmations, currency exchange information, health insurance information, travel insurance, and metric converter if needed.

2) Make Arrangements For: Mail, newspaper, animals, watering, garbage with neighbor/friend visit post office or website, www.usps.com for specific instructions for your area.

3) To Do List: Cut grass, water plants, change cat liter, set timers, set thermostat, turn water outside off, pick up pet droppings, close shades, take out remaining garbage in house, clean out fridge, change outside lightbulbs. 

4) Preparing for Arrival: Make sure that you split up your financial funds into various locations.  Carrying travelers cheques and registration for the min separate places.  A money belt is always great to have on hand for daily travel.

5) A List of All Accessories: Don’’t leave home without the accessories to make life more enjoyable in all types of climates and situations; such as sunglass, bandana, sun hat, sewing kit, safety pins, poncho, umbrella, and belt.

6) Toiletries: Anti Bacterial wipes and gels, band aids, aspirin, earplugs, cotton swabs, cotton balls, dental floss, lip balm, nail file, sunscreen, children’’s Tylenol, Tums, makeup, razor, hair products, feminine products, tooth brush/toothpaste, deodorant, contact lens materials, glasses, and other first aid products.

7) Car Essentials: Atlas or Google Directions, Maps or GPS, DVD Player, Movies, Books on tape,  Activities, Snacks, Napkins, Wet Naps, Baggies, Electronic Chargers, BeachItems, FishingLine, Flashlight, Blanket, Umbrella, and Trash bags.

8) Clothing: Boots (when necessary) undergarments, pajamas, socks, shoes, shorts, tops, sweaters, tanks, jackets, pants, dresses, swimsuits, sandals, slippers. Layering is the key!

9) For Those Of You That Miss Home: Pack a bag with a laundry bag, pillowcase, candle, cinnamon sticks, laundry detergent, and something satin.

10) First Aid Kits: Band aids, compression bandages, diarrhea tablets, mosquito repellant, sunscreen, iodine, ibuprofen, small scissors, tweezers, water purifying tablets,toilet paper. 

11) Extras: Camera, flip phone, ipods, don’’t forget your chargers, alarm clock, books, water, gum, batteries, swiss army knife

12) Beach Equipment: BeachTowels, suits, coverups, floaties, sand toys, sunscreen, bug spray, pool bag, flip flops, water shoes

13) Today’’s Technology to the Test: GPS Systems are wonderful to have with you. Flip Cameras, documenting trip, cameras, favorite stuffed animal in various pictures throughout your journey, SmartPhones, www.urbanspoon.com
